Mediacom Communications Celebrates Grand Opening of New Network Operations Center in West Des Moines, Iowa
Mediacom Communications today announced the grand opening of its new Network Operations Center (NOC) in West Des Moines, Iowa. The state-of-the-art facility will serve as the central hub for monitoring Mediacom’s broadband network operations across its 22-state service footprint. With the opening of the new NOC, Mediacom has now invested nearly $15 million in West Des Moines facilities in recent years.
Mediacom’s Iowa workforce includes nearly 1,200 people statewide, and the new NOC will house over 150 employees, including network engineers, technical operations staff, and support personnel. This expansion underscores Mediacom’s ongoing commitment to providing reliable, high-speed broadband, video, phone, and mobile services to 1 million homes and businesses in Iowa and more than 3 million nationally.
In addition to residential service, the NOC will monitor business and enterprise customers, several data centers, cellular sites, and key local venues such as the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, Xtream Arena in Coralville, and Mediacom Stadium, home to Drake Soccer and the Des Moines Public Schools athletic programs.
“The cutting-edge technology we have built into this facility is a testament to our focus on innovation, network reliability, and creating high-quality, U.S. based jobs,” said John Pascarelli, Executive Vice President of Mediacom Communications. “With our new West Des Moines NOC, we’re more confident than ever in our ability to provide 24/7 network monitoring and rapid response capabilities to all of the communities we serve.”
The West Des Moines NOC is equipped with advanced monitoring technologies that provide real-time visibility into the performance and health of Mediacom’s entire network, which spans more than 877,000 miles of fiber. From this location, the company’s technical teams will oversee the seamless delivery of data, voice, and video services. NOC personnel are equipped to proactively route around external network congestion or outages, helping ensure uninterrupted service for Mediacom customers.
City officials and community leaders joined Mediacom executives at a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the official opening of the facility. The event highlighted the positive economic and employment impact this project brings to the West Des Moines area.
“We are proud that Mediacom chose West Des Moines for this critical piece of their national infrastructure,” said Mayor Russ Trimble. “It’s a sign of the city’s growing role as a hub for technology and innovation.”
The facility is now fully operational, enhancing Mediacom’s ability to deliver best-in-class services and ensuring the ongoing performance and stability of its network infrastructure.
